IWC Wealth Notes - Oct 2021
Dear Valued Client,
What has Changed?
Today, insurers requires policy holders to obtain a Pre-authorisation letter before a scheduled surgery, preferably from their panel of doctors in order for the insurance policy to pay for the claim fully.
Why has this changed?
Insurers requires or rather encourages policy holders to seek treatment from their panel of preauthorised doctors, to manage the cause of rising claims.
How do the changes impact you?
Without the doctor panels’ pre-authorisation, this would result in higher cash outlay on co-payment of your medical bills.
What is recommended?
Should you have a medical issue and/or need a surgery, do check your insurer’s website where you have access to over 300 – 400 Specialist across various specialities and sub-specialities in private practice island wide.
It is important for you to consider using the panel of doctors from your insurer, in order to keep your out-of-pocket medical cost low.
With Pre-approval from the panel of doctors, your Co-Insurance is capped to the minimum by the Rider you have, should you require a surgery.
All Government Restructured Hospital are in the approved panel of doctors.
If your plan does not cover private hospitals, please seek treatment at Public Hospital. If not, the bill may only cover pro-rata.
You may check on the Private Specialist on your insurer’s website from the links below.
